Pune’s Ganeshotsav is known for its grand celebrations, but this year, the Mula Mutha Society Public Ganeshotsav 2024, situated in Balaji Nagar, stands out for its mesmerizing depiction of a 45-year-old society brought to life by local artist Akash Rajendra Pawar. Pawar, a renowned makeup artist, created a stunning recreation of the Shiva-Parvati marriage ceremony, showcased by the Navjawan Mandal.
The intricately designed scene portrays everyday life, including children playing carrom, an ice ball seller with a handcart, and families worshipping Ganapati. What truly captivates viewers is how Aakash has integrated his personal memories of the Mula Mutha Society, where he grew up. From family members preparing meals in the kitchen to a nostalgic TV-watching session, every detail evokes a deep sense of connection to the past.
For the past 12 years, the Pawar family has focused on creating similar beautiful, memory-driven scenes. Using materials like plywood, card sheets, clay, and colors, Aakash has previously created depictions of village fairs, the Shaniwar Wada, and more. This year’s creation is particularly special as it reflects his childhood and brings a forgotten era back to life.
