Black Market for Coldplay Tickets in Mumbai: Rs 3,500 Ticket Sold for Rs 3 Lakhs, Complaint Filed with Police

Mumbai : Fans eagerly waiting to see Coldplay perform live in Mumbai in 2025 have been hit by a scandal as reports of black market ticket sales have surfaced. With Coldplay’s three-day concert scheduled in the city, tickets have become a hot commodity, and the prices on resale platforms have skyrocketed to alarming rates. A ticket initially priced at Rs 3,500 is now being sold for up to Rs 3 lakhs, sparking outrage among fans.

A complaint regarding the unauthorized resale of tickets has been filed with the Mumbai Police. As part of the investigation, the police have issued a summons to the CEO of the popular ticketing platform, BookMyShow, which was responsible for handling the ticket sales for the Coldplay concert. In response, BookMyShow has distanced itself from the black market scandal and issued a strong statement condemning the illegal reselling of tickets.

On September 22, the day tickets went on sale, over 13 million eager fans logged into BookMyShow to secure their spots for the concert. A spokesperson for the platform stated that to ensure fairness, they implemented a queuing system to manage the overwhelming demand. However, with high demand came delays, and the platform quickly added a third concert date to accommodate more fans.

Despite these efforts, black market activity soon followed, with tickets reselling on platforms like Viagogo for outrageous prices. Fans have reported seeing ticket prices range from Rs 35,000 to Rs 3 lakhs, far exceeding the original price bracket of Rs 2,500 to Rs 35,000.

BookMyShow has strongly condemned the unauthorized resale of tickets and emphasized that they are taking all necessary steps to curb this illegal activity. “We are not associated with any unauthorized platforms, and we vehemently oppose the black market sale of tickets,” said a spokesperson from the company. The platform has lodged a formal complaint with the police and is working closely with authorities to investigate the matter and bring the offenders to justice.

Mumbai Police Investigation Ongoing

The Mumbai Police have taken the complaint seriously and are currently investigating the illegal ticket resale market. Penal provisions and legal actions are expected to follow for those involved in these unauthorized activities.

Fans are urged to purchase tickets only from authorized platforms to avoid falling prey to such scams. The excitement for Coldplay’s concert remains high, but this black market scandal has cast a shadow over the much-anticipated event.

The Coldplay concert, set to be one of the biggest musical events of 2025, has fans hoping for a memorable experience, but only if they can secure their tickets legitimately.

This situation serves as a reminder for concert-goers to be cautious of fraudulent activities in the resale market, and for platforms to maintain transparency in handling large-scale events.
