Maharashtra Class 12th Board Exams Begin Tomorrow: Over 15 Lakh Students to Appear
Pune, February 10, 2025 – The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) is set to commence the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) Class 12th exams from February 11, 2025. A total of 15,05,037 students from across the state will be appearing for the exams at 3,373 main centers spread across 10,550 junior colleges.
Gender-Wise Distribution of Students
The students appearing for the exams include:
- 8,10,348 boys
- 6,94,652 girls
- 37 transgender students
Sharad Gosavi, Chairman of the Maharashtra State Board, announced these figures during a press conference. He also emphasized that this year’s exams are starting 10 days earlier than previous years, allowing for faster result processing. As a result, the Class 12th and Class 10th board results are expected to be announced by May 15, 2025.
Stream-Wise Student Enrollment
Among the 15.05 lakh students, the distribution across various academic streams is as follows:
- Science: 7,68,967 students
- Arts: 3,80,410 students
- Commerce: 3,19,439 students
- Minimum Skill-Based Courses: 31,735 students
- Technical Science: 4,486 students
Security and Malpractice Prevention Measures
To ensure a fair examination process, the board has deployed 271 flying squads across Maharashtra. Additionally, 818 examination centers have been identified as sensitive due to previous instances of malpractice. The district-wise distribution of these sensitive centers is as follows:
- Pune: 125 centers
- Nagpur: 104 centers
- Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: 205 centers
- Mumbai: 57 centers
- Kolhapur: 39 centers
- Amravati: 124 centers
- Nashik: 88 centers
- Latur: 73 centers
- Konkan: 3 centers
The Maharashtra Board has assured students and parents that strict monitoring will be in place to curb unfair practices and ensure smooth conduct of the exams.
