Mumbai, December 4: The political tussle in Maharashtra has come to an end, with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Devendra Fadnavis unanimously chosen as the Chief Minister. His swearing-in ceremony will take place on December 5 at Mumbai’s iconic Azad Maidan. The event will be a grand affair attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and various other dignitaries, including Chief Ministers from other states.
The decision to appoint Devendra Fadnavis as the Chief Minister follows eight days of intense discussions and deliberations among coalition leaders after the Mahayuti (Grand Alliance) secured a majority in the Maharashtra assembly elections.
“Ek Hai To Safe Hai”: Fadnavis’ First Reaction
Speaking after his unanimous election as the BJP’s legislative group leader, Fadnavis expressed gratitude to the party MLAs, allies, and the people of Maharashtra. He emphasized unity and safety, coining the slogan, “Ek Hai To Safe Hai” (If united, we are safe).
“This is a historic election. It has demonstrated the power of unity and belief in the leadership of Prime Minister Modi. Once again, Maharashtra has chosen stability and progress by giving us a clear mandate,” Fadnavis said during his address.
He further added, “Under PM Modi’s guidance, our party has grown immensely. It’s an honor to be entrusted with this responsibility for the third time, albeit briefly before. I owe this to our leadership and the trust of the people.”
Coalition Support and Strategic Alliance
Fadnavis acknowledged the contributions of his coalition partners, including Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, whose alliances have strengthened the BJP-led Mahayuti. He stated, “With their support, we are prepared to deliver a stable and progressive government for the people of Maharashtra.”
The Swearing-In Ceremony
The grand ceremony at Azad Maidan is expected to witness the presence of key national and state leaders. Security preparations are underway to accommodate the high-profile attendees and ensure smooth proceedings.
Fadnavis, known for his administrative acumen and dedication, is set to embark on his new term with a focus on development, governance, and public welfare.
