Under the leadership of stand-in captain Jasprit Bumrah, India managed only 185 runs in their first innings, putting Australia in the driver’s seat at the end of Day 1.
India’s Struggles with the Bat
Opting to bat first after winning the toss, India’s top-order failed to provide a solid start. Regular skipper Rohit Sharma was rested due to a prolonged slump in form, and young Shubman Gill was brought into the playing XI.
