India Wins IND vs BAN: India Secures Series with T20-Style Victory in Kanpur Test

Kanpur, October 1st: In an electrifying finish, India clinched a dominant 7-wicket victory over Bangladesh in the second Test at Kanpur, completing a 2-0 series sweep. Despite rain delays, India put on a commanding performance, wrapping up the game in a T20-style chase on the fifth day.

Faced with a modest target of 95 runs, India wasted no time. Yashasvi Jaiswal emerged as the standout performer, notching up a brilliant 51 off 48 balls, studded with eight boundaries and a six. This was Jaiswal’s second fifty in the match, solidifying his stature as one of India’s top rising talents.

After an aggressive start, skipper Rohit Sharma fell early for just 8 runs. However, Jaiswal and Shubman Gill kept up the pressure, though Gill soon followed Rohit, contributing only 6 runs. With two quick dismissals, India looked to Virat Kohli and Jaiswal to guide the chase. Jaiswal’s crucial half-century anchored the innings before his dismissal, leaving Kohli to finish the job.

India’s bowlers played a decisive role earlier in the day. Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja ripped through Bangladesh’s batting lineup, each taking three wickets. Jasprit Bumrah was also lethal, bagging three scalps, including the vital wicket of Mushfiqur Rahim, as India bowled Bangladesh out for just 146 runs.

Shadman Islam top-scored for Bangladesh with a resilient 50, but his dismissal by Akash Deep was a major blow to the visitors. Despite some late resistance, Bangladesh was unable to put up a competitive total, giving India an easy path to victory.

India’s remarkable win in this rain-affected Test came after a similarly commanding performance in Chennai, making this a comprehensive series triumph. As India looks ahead to their next challenge, this victory further cements their reputation as a dominant force in world cricket.

Scorecard:

  • BAN: 233 & 146
  • IND: 285/9 d & 98/3
  • India won by 7 wickets.
