India's Paralympians Gear Up for Day 2 at Paris 2024 with Two Medal Events in Athletics and Star Shooter Avani Lekhara's Debut

Paris, August 30, 2024 – After a challenging first day at the Paris Paralympics 2024, the Indian contingent is set to return stronger on Day 2 with two crucial medal events on the horizon. The spotlight will be on two-time Paralympic medalist Avani Lekhara, who kicks off her campaign in the women’s 10m air rifle standing SH1 qualification event, aiming to add another accolade to her impressive career.

India’s Day 1 concluded without any medals, but there were notable performances, including Sheetal’s season-best score of 703 points in the women’s individual compound ranking round. She will continue her campaign on Saturday.

The medal hopes on Day 2 are high with Karam Jyoti and Sakshi Kasana set to compete in the women’s discus throw F55 final. Later in the day, young sprinter Preethi Pal will take the track in the women’s 100m-T35 final, marking India’s second shot at a medal.
