Pune, September 2024 – The city of Pune witnessed an overwhelming turnout for the Ganpati Visarjan 2024, as thousands of devotees gathered at Alka Talkies Chowk to bid farewell to their beloved Ganpati Bappa. The immersion of all five prestigious Ganpatis (Manache Ganpati) along with the famed Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati was completed in a grand yet environmentally conscious manner.
This year’s Pune Ganesh Visarjan was marked by deep devotion and an emotional atmosphere as the ten-day-long festival drew to a close. The processions, which began early in the morning, continued till late evening with immense enthusiasm and participation from devotees.
The Five Manache Ganpatis:
- Kasba Ganpati: The first and most revered Ganpati of Pune, Kasba Ganpati, began its procession in a silver palanquin at 10:30 AM. The immersion took place at 4:34 PM at an artificial tank, signifying a strong eco-friendly message for future generations.
2. Tambadi Jogeshwari Ganpati: The second honored Ganpati, Tambadi Jogeshwari, also followed traditional immersion practices. The grand procession started at 10:30 AM, with the final immersion taking place at 5:12 PM.
3. Guruji Talim Ganpati: The third Ganpati, riding the majestic Surya chariot, was immersed amid loud chants of “Ganpati Bappa Morya” at 6:44 PM, leaving devotees with prayers for his quick return next year.
4. Tulshibaug Ganpati: The fourth Ganpati, Tulshibaug, traveled in the spectacular Jagannath Puri Rath, a towering 32-foot chariot. This Ganesha was immersed at 7:12 PM, amidst vibrant celebrations.
5. Kesariwada Ganpati: The fifth and final Manache Ganpati, Kesariwada Ganpati, concluded its procession at 7:33 PM in an emotional farewell ceremony.
Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati Visarjan:
One of the most beloved and iconic Ganpatis of Pune, Dagdusheth Halwai, began its visarjan procession around 4:05 PM. After traveling through the crowded streets of Pune, this revered idol was finally immersed at Panchaleshwar Ghat at 8:50 PM in an eco-friendly manner, much to the joy and respect of Punekars and Ganesha devotees alike.
This year’s visarjan was marked by a strong emphasis on environmental sustainability, with all immersions taking place in specially designed tanks and eco-friendly immersion sites along the Deccan riverbed.
