Pune, September 7 – On the occasion of the Pran Pratishthapana Ceremony, major traffic changes will be implemented in Pune’s central areas. Chhatrapati Shivaji Road, from Gadgil Putla Chowk to Gotiram Bhaiya Chowk (Mandai), will be closed for regular traffic on Saturday. The processions accompanying the event, along with the rush of devotees in the Shaniwarwada area, have prompted these changes.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Amol Zende announced that alternative routes would be provided for motorists. Vehicles coming from Gadgil Putla Chowk will be directed through Kumbharves Chowk and Shahir Amar Sheikh Chowk. For those traveling from Sancheti Chowk to Swargate, diversions will take them via Barve Chowk, Jungli Maharaj Road, and Tilak Road.
Additionally, idol sellers have set up temporary shops from Savarkar Putla Chowk to Saadhana Bhel Center, and parking restrictions have been enforced in these areas to ease traffic flow. Vehicles will be allowed to park only on one side of designated roads, such as Kamgar Putla Chowk to Chhatrapati Shivaji Putla Chowk.
Key PMPML bus routes have also been altered, with buses from Chhatrapati Shivaji Road to Swargate now operating through Barve Chowk and Tilak Road.
Open Routes:
- Fadke Houd Chowk to Jijamata Chowk
- Appa Balwant Chowk to Budhwar Chowk
- Premier Garage Galli to Khude Chowk
- Vehicles allowed on one side between Kamgar Putla Chowk and Chhatrapati Shivaji Putla Chowk.
- Vehicles can be parked at Satish Misal parking lot and Hutatma Babu Gainu parking lot.
Motorists are advised to follow the guidelines to avoid inconvenience during the ceremony.
