Raj Thackeray Criticizes Ladki Bahin Yojana, Warns of Fund Shortage in Two Months
Mumbai: MNS (Maharashtra Navnirman Sena) president Raj Thackeray has made a sharp statement regarding the state’s much-discussed Ladki Bahin Yojana. Thackeray, in his speech today, targeted the grand alliance government, warning that funds for this welfare scheme will be exhausted in the next two months. He claimed that the state’s financial situation is so dire that even basic salaries may not be paid come January and February.
Raj Thackeray: “Who Asked for This Money?”
Speaking passionately at a public meeting, Thackeray questioned the motives behind the distribution of funds under the Ladki Bahin Yojana. He criticized the ruling coalition, expressing his confusion and frustration, stating, “Today, they are giving money for Ladki Bahin Yojana, but who asked for it? What is the purpose of our politicians if they don’t understand the needs of the people?”
Thackeray went on to criticize the habit of distributing free money, implying that these financial aids are more about winning elections than helping citizens. He warned people not to rely on these funds for long, as they are only temporary due to the upcoming elections. “The money is being distributed now, but don’t expect it to continue beyond the elections,” he added.
Maharashtra May Face Financial Crisis by Early 2024
Thackeray further predicted that Maharashtra’s financial condition will deteriorate in the coming months, with the state unable to pay even the salaries of its employees. He suggested that instead of giving free money, the government should focus on empowering women by providing them with jobs. “Give work to women’s hands, they are strong, they will earn their own money,” he emphasized.
Freebies Culture Will Lead to Economic Downfall
Thackeray expressed concerns over the growing trend of political freebies, arguing that this practice is creating a dependency culture in the state. He stressed that this habit of expecting free services is harmful, especially when citizens are only asking for basic necessities such as continuous electricity supply for farmers, rather than freebies like free electricity.
“Once this habit of freebies starts, all political parties behave the same way,” said Thackeray, warning that if this continues, “Maharashtra will become Nagda” (a reference to becoming bankrupt).
Maharashtra Will Never Bow Down to Delhi Under MNS Rule
As elections approach, Thackeray urged voters to support his party, promising that under MNS rule, Maharashtra would regain its pride and never bow to Delhi. “Give me Maharashtra once, and I promise we will never bow down to Delhi,” he declared, urging citizens to take the money being distributed by other political parties but to vote for MNS candidates.
