RSS’s New ‘Keshav Kunj’ Office in Delhi to Be Inaugurated on Shivaji Jayanti

Delhi: The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) is set to inaugurate its newly constructed headquarters, ‘Keshav Kunj,’ in New Delhi on February 19, 2025, coinciding with the birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The grand structure, which cost approximately Rs 150 crore, has been developed with donations from RSS well-wishers and is a blend of modernity and cultural heritage.

Historic Evolution of Keshav Kunj

The RSS has operated from its Jhandewalan office in Delhi since 1939, with major reconstructions in 1980 and 1982. Recognizing the need for an upgraded facility, the plan for a new office was conceived in 2016. The foundation stone was laid by RSS Chief Dr. Mohan Bhagwat in August 2016, aiming to create a central hub that aligns with the growing scope of the organization.

Architectural Highlights

The newly built Keshav Kunj complex spans 5 lakh square feet across 4 acres and features three high-rise towers – Sadhana, Prerna, and Archana. Designed by Gujarat-based architect Anup Dubey, the structure integrates Gujarat, Rajasthani, and traditional Indian architectural elements while preserving RSS’s ethos of simplicity.

Notable features include:

  • 300 rooms and three spacious auditoriums:
    • Ashok Singhal Auditorium (463 seats)
    • Second hall (650 seats)
    • Third hall (250 seats)
  • Parking space for 270 vehicles
  • State-of-the-art press conference room with LED screens
  • Library housing 8,000 books and digital archives on religious, constitutional, and philosophical subjects

Sustainability & Eco-Friendly Initiatives

RSS has incorporated environmentally conscious elements into Keshav Kunj’s construction:

  • Use of granite instead of wood to prevent deforestation
  • In-house Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) for waste management
  • Installation of 140 KW solar panels to promote renewable energy

Facilities for RSS Volunteers and Staff

Each of the three towers has distinct functionalities:

  • Sadhana Tower: Dedicated to RSS publications, including Bharat Prakashan, Suruchi Prakashan, Panchjanya, and Organiser.
  • Prerna Tower: Houses accommodations for RSS Chief, General Secretary, and key leadership.
  • Archana Tower: Provides residential quarters for employees and volunteers.

A large dining hall accommodating 80 people, a dispensary, and a small five-bed hospital have also been integrated to ensure healthcare accessibility for RSS members and the public.

Symbolic Significance of Inauguration on Shivaji Jayanti

The selection of Shivaji Jayanti for the inauguration underscores RSS’s ideological alignment with the legacy of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, a revered leader symbolizing Hindu values and nationalism. The grand opening will be presided over by RSS Chief Dr. Mohan Bhagwat, with General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale leading the celebrations.

A Milestone for RSS

The new Keshav Kunj office marks a significant milestone in RSS’s evolution, blending its cultural heritage with modern infrastructure. As the organization continues to expand its reach, this new headquarters is poised to become a pivotal hub for its operations across India.
