Road Rage Incident Turns Tragic: MNS Activist Akash Maeen Killed in Malad

A shocking case of road rage in Malad East, Mumbai, has resulted in the tragic death of 27-year-old Akash Maeen, a Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) worker. The incident occurred on October 13, when a heated argument over overtaking escalated into a deadly mob attack, leaving Akash fatally beaten in front of his family.

Akash’s grieving mother, Dipali Maeen, who witnessed her son’s death, shared the harrowing details of how the situation spiraled out of control. “He was killed in front of our eyes,” she said, recounting how an argument with a rickshaw driver turned into a brutal mob assault.

The Argument That Led to a Deadly Attack

The tragedy began when Akash and his wife were on their way to visit his parents in Malad after booking a four-wheeler from a showroom. A minor altercation ensued between Akash and a rickshaw driver, identified as Avinash Kadam, near Shivaji Chowk. The argument quickly escalated when Avinash called in a group of 15 to 20 men to join the dispute.

Akash’s mother Dipali and his father Dattatreya, who were in another rickshaw nearby, rushed to the scene in an attempt to defuse the situation. However, the mob turned violent, pulling Akash off his bike and subjecting him to a brutal assault. Despite Dipali’s desperate efforts to shield her son, the attackers continued to kick and beat both Akash and his parents.

The Harrowing Final Moments of Akash’s Life

As Akash lay unconscious from the beating, Dipali described how bystanders chose to film the incident rather than intervene to stop the violence. “A large crowd had gathered, but no one tried to stop them. They were busy making videos,” she said, expressing her shock and despair at the lack of humanity displayed by onlookers.

Akash was eventually rushed to the Balasaheb Thackeray Traumacare Hospital in Jogeshwari, but his life could not be saved. Dipali criticized the hospital’s slow response, stating that her son was fighting for his life for a considerable time before being attended by a senior doctor.

Police Investigation and Arrests Following the Incident

On the basis of a complaint filed by Akash’s wife, Anushree Maeen, the Dindoshi police swiftly launched an investigation. With the help of CCTV footage, nine suspects were identified and arrested, including Avinash Namdev Kadam, Amit Joginder Vishwakarma, Aditya Dinesh Singh, Jayprakash Deepak Amte, Rakesh Malku Dhawale, and Sahil Sikandar Kadam. All have been charged with murder.

A Community in Mourning: Remembering Akash Maeen

Akash, who had been married for just seven months, was eagerly looking forward to a future with his new family. His mother Dipali, an active member of the MNS, is devastated by the loss of her son, especially given the circumstances under which he was taken. Akash’s death has left a void in the lives of his family and the community, as they now seek justice for this heinous crime.

The Malad road rage incident has sparked widespread outrage and raised serious concerns about the escalating violence and mob mentality in Mumbai. As the investigation continues, Akash’s family, friends, and party colleagues demand swift justice for the young man who lost his life over a senseless argument.

This horrific incident serves as a reminder of the fragile state of public safety in situations of road rage. Despite the presence of numerous witnesses, no one stepped forward to help. The Maeen family is left mourning the untimely death of a beloved son, husband, and friend.
